Norman Routledge Memorial - Sunday 14th December 2025

Post by stan_trumpet »

Location

The Mount Without, Upper Church Ln, Bristol BS2 8FN

Note that this is in the clean air zone

After we've played we're all welcome to stay on for as long as we like

Load In
Park temporarily at bottom of St Michaels Hill, and enter via side door towards rear of the church
I'd say it would be good if everyone arrives as early as they can during load in/setup so we've time to setup well. If you can't make the setup window ( 13.00 - 14.15 ) then by 15:00 latest

Take Down
We may be able to take some kit out in the small window between the end of our set and the speeches, but we can't count on that. We will definitely be able to after 18.30. If this is a problem for you, then let me know asap

Parking
You may be able to park in the University of Bristol car park on the corner of Old Park Hill and Lower Church Lane. Defo not in the smaller school car park immediately next door - you'll get fined or clamped. Given the number of guests it's unlikely you'll find a space. Do not be put off by the signage. It is not monitored outside working hours. It's also an alternative drop off point

Timings

What else is happening so you see where we fit in

12.00 - 12.45 Private service in main hall for 1st phase of guests
12.45 - 13.00 1st phase guests move to crypt for lunch. AV from service takedown and chairs cleared
13.00 - 14.15 Load in and setup - Note there is another band setting up at the same time. We'll have to work with/around them. Currently awaiting contact with them to work out any kit sharing possibilities
14.15 - 15.15 Sax player/ recorded music in main hall as 2nd phase guests arrive
15.15 - 15.50 Fantasy Orchestra Set
16.00 - 16.45 Speeches
16.45 - 18.00 Band in main Hall
by 18.30 All guests moved to crypt.
18.30 Takedown of remaining kit
19.00 - later... DJ in crypt

Set List

Brief Introduction by Stan and Kathy to explain our connection to Norm, Kingsweston and The Mount Without

All You Need is Love - Arwen
There's a Place - Arwen
Strawberry Fields - Phil
God Only Knows - Maeve
Don't Worry Baby - Sam
Moon River - Kathy - Simon playing harmonica part on sop sax
Kooks - Mary and Kathy
Starman - Mark
Heroes - can't remember how many singers we need for this at this moment. Suggestion would be not too many from orchestra or else we'll be left with no band!
Lets Dance -Daisy

Dress Code

Anything goes apart from that there is NO GLITTER ( even bio-degradable ) allowed. It's a historic building, and to clear it up is a nightmare. We'd have Michele to answer to and a big cleaning bill. So just don't.
