Bowie at the Lantern practical information - Saturday 17th January
Dear Fantasians
With our gig at the Lantern fast approaching, here is a run-down of practical info about the day.
At the time of writing there are 33 tickets left, so if anyone you know wants them, tell them to get in quick! Tickets are available here :
https://bristolbeacon.org/whats-on/the- ... lebration/
Help needed!
We are looking for a volunteer or two to help man the main orchestra/choir entrance at some point between 4pm-5:30pm and tick people off the list/give out wristbands on arrival. If you don't have a lead vocal or an instrument that needs soundchecking, this could be you - please let Sarah choir know if you can help through the WhatsApp admin group or grab one of the committee (Sam ,George, Tree, Celia, Sarah or Steph fiddle) at rehearsal this week.
Performance date, location and time
We will be playing from 7:30pm - 9:45pm approx on Saturday 17th January in the Lantern Hall. This is the smaller space next to the main Bristol Beacon Hall.
Please note that we are aiming for a 5pm prompt start for soundcheck. This is earlier than last time. Please aim to be in the building by 4:30pm latest. If you know you are likely to arrive after 5pm, please let us know before next Saturday so we can have someone available to let you in by emailing thefantasyorchestra@gmail.com or letting one of the committee know (see above).
Timings are as follows:
4:00pm Load in for bigger instruments via Artists Entrance.
The entrance is on Colston Street, to the right of the Colonnade restaurant. Please sign in and get a wristband. You can park temporarily for drop off - we should be able to confirm two allocated parking spaces for Viv and Tom. Please load in this way for access to the lift that goes up to the Lantern level.
4:00pm onwards - rest of Orchestra and choir arrive via Cellar Entrance.
The entrance is on Colston Street via a glass door, immediately to the right of the main entrance. Please sign in and get a wristband. Our Green Room will be the Weston Stage/Cellar Bar as last time - turn right after you sign in and it's along the corridor to the left. We will access the Lantern Hall by stairs or lift.
Please arrive promptly as we don't have much time to set up. If you're running late, please let us know. Strings, please bring any pickups you have.
Please note that we won't have time to rehearse everything - if you have a lead vocal for a tune we know very well, it's possible it won't be covered during the soundcheck.
5:00pm Soundcheck and Health and Safety briefing. Don't forget to bring a lid for any drinks on stage!
Performance times
Doors: 19.00
First set start: 19.30
Interval: 20.20
Second set: 20.50
Finish: 21.45
We need to leave the Green Room neat and tidy by 11pm. The bar will be closed after the performance so we'll need to head elsewhere for post-gig celebrations. I have reserved the room upstairs at the Hatchet Pub down the hill on Frogmore Street for us - we can take our instruments there without getting in anyone else's way!
Getting there
I think everyone knows where it is. It's best to use the Trenchard Street car park behind if you're driving. More info is here:
https://bristolbeacon.org/plan-your-vis ... tting-here
Setlist
This is still being finalised - further details will follow.
Costumes - what's in the dressing up box?
It's David Bowie - need I say more?! Off you go and rummage!
Cheers everyone, see you there!
