Those having trouble with the music

Here are a few ideas for those who'd like to be in the orchestra but have trouble reading music:

- Have a session with a professional tutor to have your playing assessed, and get a plan for improving and learning sight reading. The Fantasy Orchestra is prepared to help fund one session. Regular lessons would be the best idea.

- Go through each part we are rehearsing and know what it sounds like. Listen to the mp3s and midi files

- Write slide positions on the parts (trombones), or use a colour coding system. Make notes on the part to help with timing, rhythm and dynamics

- Learn what exactly you can and can't play. Mark it on the part and only play the sections you can play

- Please don't just make up something to play unless directed by the orchestra leader during improvisation sections.
